Is it just me or is the tone of the series starting to feel unrelentingly dark. The moment I feel like Babs is finally going to get to a good balanced place in her life, they go and heap more trauma on her.
I want her to come out of her own darkness, but right now I don’t see that…
DC in general is doing this darker thing… Like Nolaningfying everything. They don’t get that heroes are suppose to inspire. Not make you feel like WHATISWRONGWITHTHEWORLD…I’mgoingtomyemocorner…. We all don’t want to feel like that.

Yesterday, I posted some costume redesigns for female characters that showed how they could look with a bit more skin covered up. Among them was Zatanna.
This costume didn’t win me over but it certainly did give her more coverage than what she’s been wearing in the Justice League Dark in the new 52.
This costume, by Mikel Janin, gave Zee a more modern look and shifted her iconic fishnets to her arms rather than her legs. I grew to like this look which was actually a fluid one - Zees tops changed a few times in the series.
But DC now seems to be stepping back from of its new 52 designs. Power Girl is returning to her classic “boob window” after two sets of redesign failures for Worlds’ Finest. Zatanna was seen in issue 18 saying she wanted to investigate her father’s death.
But when she turns up in #22 she’s be wearing a new costume design that Geoff Johns debuted on Twitter. Or maybe not that new.

The doors have barely closed on WonderCon but the news keeps coming. And it is big news. This morning reports are emerging that as part of Bruce Wayne’s grieving process he will soon embark on a romance with another member of the Batfamily - Batgirl.

After the tragic death of Damian Wayne, the book Batman and Robin will be retitled Batman And… with a rotating cast. The lineup for the first five issues are as follows.
#19 — Batman and Red Robin
#20 — Batman and Red Hood
#21 — Batman and Batgirl
#22 — Batman and Catwoman
#23 — Batman and NightwingWriter Peter Tomasi has said that the story is based on the five stages of grief, which if he is going by the traditional Kübler-Ross model means the Bruce and Barbara story represents bargaining.
Pretty good line up for following this model. Dick needed to be acceptance. He is one of the consistent lights in Bruce’s life, even if he refuses to see it sometime.
Depression also feels natural with Catwoman, because of their highly sexualized relationship (thanks Batman #1) it is natural to not have any of those feelings when you are depressed. It will be an interesting exchange I’m sure.
Anger also feels like a good fit for Jason considering their relationship and Jason’s prior death. I feel like that one is definitely going to be one to grab. Although I would have liked to see him switch with Barbara. I say this because of 2 reasons. Because of the own stages of loss Babs has gone through over the loss of her working legs (even though they work now) she would have been able to empathize and I think snap him out of it, due to her sassy nature.
Also, Jason could have been a better fit for Bargaining. Because he has already died before, it could lead Bruce into some sort of false hope and trying to rationalize the events that his son might return to him one day.
As for Tim… well, they needed to fill that spot with someone and he was the most recent robin. So it makes sense.
These are just my thoughts but I’m curious as to how the rest of the series will be handled.
